Going Cardiff tomorrow (Friday) to see them.
Saw them early 80's at the Lyceum. FUCKING SUPERB

Sven, yeah, agree with that, maybe with something like the Marychain it's a bit more pronounced though, not just the raw energy bit being different because of the ageing etc, but a song like 'Never Understand'....it just didn't feel right without all the rough edges to it?....then again a few of their other songs probably benefited from it...

I know what you mean but I guess you have to accept that bands are different from when they are 20-something to when they are in their 50's
Like the people watching them :-)
Though the crowd was a mixture of codgers and quite a lot not born when they started.

Sven, complete opposite for me with the Jesus and Mary Chain, saw them last year and thought it was all a bit too polished?
Better in some ways, but overall lost a bit of the edge for me.

I heard it was the Alarm. What were they like? I saw them about 15 times in the 80's and they were never anything less than SUPERB.
